The Parting is a geometric abstract portrait of two figures separated by a central bright orange doorway, exploring tension, departure, and emotional uncertainty. Created in mixed media, it incorporates layered composition and Pierre Frey textiles to introduce a tactile, material quality.
The imagined moment of encountering a coral reef bathed in fiery oranges and reds, where beauty and fragility coexist. Through an intuitive, layered process, I wanted to translate not a reef as it appears, but the emotional weight of witnessing something both vibrant and endangered. The work plays on this tension, a landscape that feels alive and luminous, yet quietly carries the urgency of ecological loss.
